MESSALI HADJ

France/Algeria - 2006

Messali Hadj was born on May 16, 1898 in Tlemcen (Algeria), and he played a major role in the foundation of the national movement in Algeria. Most of the time in exile or a prisoner, his life as an activist had one single aim: his country’s independence. With the help of the Workers party of Algeria, this film is produced by the association “Friends of the Fraternity newspaper”. It tries to explain the historical reasons why his role and influence remained mostly unheard of.
