QUAND LES ÉTOILES RENCONTRENT LA MER

(Kapila)
Madagascar • 1996

A solar eclipse is an obvious sign of disorder in the harmony of heavens, an ominous day. In the highlands of Madagascar, a baby is born under such a bad omen. Local traditional belief has it that the baby can master a tremendous power of destruction. The newborn must then pass the test of the paddock: he will be left alone among cattle for one full night. If he survives, he will be considered as “normal”. But the baby does not die, thanks to a woman who thus changes his destiny for ever.
